Faith

Rome rose to greet me Friday morning.
As I stepped from the 'plane just before dawn.
Dressed she was, in splendid pearls and diamonds.
As church bells rang, we heard a child was born.

Israel, we met on that same evening.
We watched a ball of fire settling down.
She held within her hands the scroll of Hebrew.
And on her head, she wore a jewelled crown.

Every colour, every story,
Every country has it's glory.
From Rome to Israel
History alone will tell you
Everyone has to be free
Even babes in arms
As every culture weaves it's own charms.

India was waiting for me Sunday.
I felt her warmth as my feet touched the ground.
Wise men chanted verses in procession.
Believing in the truth which they had found.

Africa, her plains captured my heart.
For nature at it's best, she welcomed me.
Tribal dances, colours of a lifetime,
Alive within the truth which she could see.
