Thanks for all your stories
That with me, you wished to share.
We didn't need a picture book
To show how much you cared!
You drew on life's experience
As much as I recall.
Each brush stroke that you added
To your portrait on my wall.

'Always do your best,' you said'
'No one can ask for more'
This advice has led me
Through so many open doors.
You taught me of life's values,
How to work and when to play.
Of how I healed through slumber
Keeping healthy every day.

When I needed finance,
Who but you, would lend a hand?
I only had to look at you
I knew you'd understand.
There were other times I felt
The teacher was severe,
But this is part and parcel
Of a friend I hold so dear.

Now that I have grown, Dad,
Thanks to you I am mature.
Thanks for all my yesterdays.
Thanks for so much more.
To celebrate your special day
My thanks to God above,
For giving me a friend for life,
My Dad, with so much love.
