"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all-how will he not also along with him graciously give us all things?" Romans 8:31-32

A few years ago the Lord gave me these words-"I got you out of hell, what more won't I do for you?" I was living in Nashville at the time, and going through a lot, and out of the blue, one morning, I had these words in my heart, spoken as clearly as day. Unfortunatly, I did not hold onto these words like the treasured possesion that they were. Sure, I pulled them out once in awhile, for convienience sake, or when I felt like meditating on them. But often, in the midst of crisis, I would turn not to God and His unchanging promise, but to my own wisdom (big mistake), or I sought the console of others, forgetting the unchanging, limitless love of my God and saviour.
Paul tells us in Romans- "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" GOD GAVE US JESUS. I don't normally repeat things in my devotionals, but this news needs repeating-GOD GAVE US JESUS. Think about that for a moment-He gave us His SON. Yes, He gave us other things, but He gave us His very son whom He loved so very much because He loves us too! THATS what we mean to Him. I too am guilty of it, but so often we worry about our needs, will God come through, will He give us this, or that? Will he heal me, will He heal my friend or family member, will He provide me with a job, etc? Its easy to worry, and the father of lies is good at getting our minds off of Gods blessings and onto the worries of the world. And there are a lot of them. Believe me, I am believing for enough money to move into a new apartment right now, don't think that I don't worry about it. But, GOD GAVE ME JESUS. He gave me salvation! He gave me new, fruitful abundant life in the spirit! He knows our needs. He knew we needed a way to be saved and he covered it for us. He knows you need the money to cover the bills coming in, and He will cover it. I love that line in psalm 27 "I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread." This doesn't mean that we are all going to be rich and never have to work for our money again, and there will be valleys and tight spots, and days when we wonder if and how we are going to get by. Jesus said that this life is full of troubles, but He also said that He has overcome the world! And we are in Him so we are "junior overcomers" :) God made us to be like Him, and He has given us the grace to overcome the challenges we face. Jesus was a gift-He came to save us from our sins. Gods grace is a gift-and all we must do is recieve it, just like we recieved Jesus. Millions of people worldwide have recieved Jesus as their Saviour and thats awesome, they are on their way to Heaven! Now, if those same people would open their lives and hearts to recieve the other gifts that God has for them, they will not only have new life, but abundant life as well. One free of worry and one where they trust God to put in their hands what needs to be there. May this new year be one where we hold out our hands and allow the God who sent Jesus to save us to also give us whatever else we need.

God bless you as you hold onto the God who loves you.
