she stood shuddering
beneath her bleeding boy,
wringing her hands like a dish rag,
as the rain poured.
The crowd now subdued,
satiated, melted into the storm.
He was quiet now;
Fast flowing blood
slowed to an ooze
from every piercing,
running in jagged bolts
down both naked legs,
his broken body
lowered into the fresh mud.
Her fingers suddenly
straightened and shot
skyward. Jerusalem was stabbed
with a mother’s cry.
She fell at his mangled feet,
drew his shredded head
to her breast
as the last watchers
turned their murderous eyes
from the crumpled Christ.
Mary bent her beautiful head
and kissed
the face of God.

I think the 3rd and 4th stanzas were the strongest ones in this piece. You really used good word choice here.
