The building is empty. The night lights reveal a silhouette standing tall, erect, unmovable, strong, powerful, on center stage, like a soldier with unsheathed sword standing at the ready. Made of solid oak, only the wood used in the making of the cross ever had a more noble purpose.

The day arrives; the building is no longer empty, all the lights are aglow, and the solid oak structure is still there. The power of God is about to be unleashed from behind it, and the plan of God will be worked out in front of it.

A foolish, weak man, chosen by God Himself emerges. God’s messenger lays The Book on the wooden structure. In an instant he scans the room praying to the God that called him for every heart behind every face his eyes can see. Hours of prayer begin to unfold; requests by the man and requests for the man by others on his behalf.

Words, given by The Holy Spirit of God, come forth from behind the pulpit. Like fire in a pine forest, words of salvation, reproof, love, correction, redemption, sin, comfort, instruction in righteousness, and peace ignite from behind the formed oak spreading to the people’s ears like lightning.

A few dozen hearts with several hundred quandaries and botherations array the crowd in front of the solid oak structure. A sinful heart sees Christ’s forgiveness being presented for acceptance at Calvary. A heart filled with sorrow hears of, and receives, the comfort of the Holy Ghost. A revelation of The Father’s will is given to a confused heart. The self-serving heart of a man hears of Christ’s sacrificial love. Healing power from the cross comes to a heart filled with pain. A proud heart sees the humility of the Saviour. A lost heart receives the blood from Golgotha’s tree and the salvation that flows in it.

All hear God’s power, and the Holy Spirit beseeching them with His will. Some, on bended knees, come to the foot of the cross and walk away with changed hearts, blessed by God, others simply go home, continuing as they are, rejecting the blessings God has offered. After some time, the foolish, weak man chosen by God turns off the lights and closes the door.
