Can You Imagine?

I, at present, am at my desk with my music blaring at its greatest volume. I think better that way, unless I’m moving around. I have this one song on repeat, obviously because I enjoy it so much. I even have two versions of it, and I like the original much better. That’s neither here nor there. The point of this time with you today is what can you imagine about eternity? Have you ever thought about that? If you keep reading, you will. Let’s get started.
The day, the hour has finally arrived when you will no longer stand on this planet. You’re dead, at least physically. Your spirit will now go on according to the decision that you made here on Earth. Acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal savior will mean absence from the body is to be present with the Lord. Good show, and be ready to start the party. Rejection of that fact will ensure an eternity of pain that cannot be imagined on this planet.
I’ve covered Hell before. I’m in a Heaven kind of mood. Let’s get comfortable for a minute. Sit back and think about going to Heaven. You are standing there in the presence of the Creator of this world. On the right hand of the Father sits the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. What do you do?
Imagining what Heaven is like is enough to boggle the mind. I want you to put yourself in the presence of Almighty God. The glory that is His shines all around the heavenly realm. His Son, Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, is there with the marks that were left by the crucifixion, the penalty that He paid in our place. The power of the Holy Spirit is surging through your soul. You can feel the holiness of the Trinity. What do you do?
There are no more worries about who is watching. God is all that will consume your mindset. The face of your Savior will stare into yours. Will you have a response ready? What will it be? Thank you? I submit to you that mass confusion will be the first thing that comes to mind. This is not going to be like going from one country to another. This is an entirely new plane that you will exist on.
Let’s take some of the words from the song. Surrounded by your glory, what will my heart feel? There will be no power on Earth to match the awesome surge that will encompass your being. The glory of the Father will be in everything that you see. Your heart will be overpowered and overwhelmed. Will you be able to dance the dance of pure joy or will you be so in awe that any movement would seem impossible? Will you be able to stand in front of the Lord of Lords, or will you be driven to your knees by the sheer force of humbleness? Will you have the voice to shout praises to Jesus to honor Him properly, or will you be without the voice or the ability to express words that would seem to make sense or even be able to express your true sentiment?
Think about it for a minute more. What would you do? It is an awesome question, and I must thank the boys from Mercy Me for bringing it up in the manner they did. They did an awesome job of coming up with a lot of angles to look at it. There are a lot of different thoughts that will cross your mind. I think I’ll try to put myself in that spot and see what we come up with.
I’m standing there in the presence of God the Father and God incarnate, Jesus Christ. I look on the holiness that shines from all around Him, and know that all my foolish notions here on Earth were just that. It will be there that I will fully understand exactly what I should have had enough faith to believe. It will be there that I understand the wholeness that is God, and how I was a fool not to believe on Him more. He will then look on me, and ask His Son by what reason should I even be allowed the honor of being in the same realm, much less the same room, as He.
Look now at the Son. He stands up from his anointed position of the right hand of the Father. His presence creates a sense that I am totally inadequate to even be here. I am not worthy of the love and the sacrifice that I have received from his own hand. I am not worthy to stand in the presence of the Lord. I can see the scars that were left by the Roman nails in his hands and feet. The wounds are still there as a reminder of the sacrifice He made for the human race. The blessed brow of Jesus has the marks from the crown of thorns that was crushed upon His sacred head.
He walks over to where I am still standing, God the Father still waiting to hear the response from the Savior. As he approaches, I feel compelled to fall to my knees in complete and total submission. I have no authority here. I have no right to be here. I feel nothing but guilt and shame. It was because of my sin that those scars are on His body. It was because of the lack of faith from the human race and the belief of the lie from Satan that God the Father was compelled to send His only Son to become the perfect sacrifice for all time for all humanity.
As He stands in front of me, I see the wounded feet of my savior, and I start to weep uncontrollably. I dare not touch Him. I could not be so brazen as to expect to be able to touch the hem of His garment. He kneels down to me, and just touches the back of my head. I cannot do anything but weep more. I cannot stop the shaking that has taken over my entire being. He lifts my head so my eyes will meet His. His face is that of a caring and loving King that is thankful that one His subjects has returned home. As he holds my face in His hands, He dries the tears from my face, and says that I will no longer have a reason to cry ever again.
Jesus looks at His Father. He stands me up straight, and has to hold me up. I have no strength to do so on my own, but with a word from Jesus, I have strength to stand before God. Jesus holds up His hands to show the Father the nail scars, and pronounces that I am one of His. He has paid the price that is required to enter into the presence of God. He has taken every sin that I have ever committed and blotted it out of the record books forever. He has done all that is needed for me to live eternally with Him in Heaven. By His blood, by His sacrifice, by His resurrection and the power that He has over Death, I am cleansed and justified forever in the sight of God the Father.
God the Father looks at me and acknowledges that my name is indeed in the Book of Life. He speaks, in the most glorious voice known, that I may enter the kingdom by the blood of the Lamb of God. He pronounces that I can now spend all of eternity worshiping and shouting praises to Jesus Christ. I can walk the length of Heaven with Him by my side and talk to Him as the friend He wants to be to me.
I can never tire the ear of Jesus. I can never wear Him out from being the source of my strength. His supplies are endless. His want to give those supplies are as endless as the supplies themselves. He wants to hear about all that I have to say. He wants to be the one that I lean on. He wants to be the one that I call on in times of trouble and times of blessings. He wants to be apart of my life, every single aspect of it.
He wants to be the one that we talk to in Heaven. He wants to be there to say to the Father that we have the right to enter Heaven because we believed in the sacrifice that He provided for us. He wants to say to the Father,” By my blood, I have given this child the right to be called a child of God.”
There can be few emotions that would be greater than to hear that you are a brother to Jesus. He stands ready to answer the prayers of His faithful. He stands ready to save you from the fate that is worse than death. He stands waiting for you to call upon His name. There is no other name under Heaven whereby a man might be saved. Call His name. Believe for yourself. The price that you will have to pay for the rejection of Jesus is more than you will be able to pay. Is your soul worth the price of wanting to have your own way here for a short time?
Email me if you want to ask questions. Email me if you received Jesus as your Savior. Email me if you want more proof. I can show you how Jesus has covered your every sin. I don’t save anybody. I can simply show you the path. It’s up to you to walk down that path for yourself. If you think that path is tough, think of carrying a cross on your back after having been beaten the whole night through. Then talk to Jesus about tough. Class dismissed.
