Matthew 1:21 (King James Version)
21).And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Mark Lowry’s words for the beautiful song , Mary did u know will revive the amazing imprint in the hearts of the church this Christmas of the awesome birth of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. .Yet I wonder when the season passes will one pack back the CD , toss it into the decorations box and forget about it till required again for the next festive season .

Do we pack away the gift of Christmas as well when the festivities are over or do we carry through the amazing gift , birth in a son that makes every day worth celebrating The perfect gift embodied in the Christmas message is the gift that keeps on giving , giving to the one who receives it and is able to be given freely as they have received.

I hear from a lot of people who have sung it in the church choir for Christmas and Easter programs," says Lowry. "When I wrote it, I felt there was something special there, but I never imagined how wide-reaching it would become."Undoubtedly even in the beautiful words of this song lies the message that is not just wide reaching but everlasting and eternal to those who believe and receive the perfection of Christmas unfolded in the beautiful gift of a Saviour. Swaddling clothes was the wrap , forgiveness the gift and eternal life the ribbon over it.

What could one desire more than to celebrate receiving a gift so perfect and so free this Christmas. What gift this Christmas would compare to the ultimate perfect gift of salvation.A gift that moth and rust can not destroy .A gift that is not earned .A gift defined by divine grace. A gift with no price tag but the blood of a son sent with the heart of the father to return the children of the kingdom.

Mary was a young woman of purity and virtue handpicked to be the bosom bearer of the Son of God .She held him in her arms and knew one day she would have to let him go about his Father’s business . Theologians and many churches will provide you concrete proof that Christ’s birth was not in this part of the year and you know that I would not even beg to differ this detail except to say give me any day of the 365 and I will celebrate the truth of the reality that my KING was born , born to die so that I may live. Christmas and Christians are contagious as this is the only season the entire world celebrates .Call it what you may but at some moment , the unbelievers know the true reason for this season. Does the church remember the true reason for this season.Much has been lost into commercialism and subtly our focus shifts from heaven’s son to earthly pleasure this Christmas. Lets realign our focus and set our eyes on the certainty of Jesus.

What about you ? Does any gift even compare to the gift you already have.Maybe you took this gift of salvation and packed it away as well for the rest of the year where much dust has collected . Now its time to remember the genuineness of why you celebrate Christmas , wipe away the dustiness of reckless living and make this the best Christmas ever by living continually in the gift of Christmas. A renewed gift that surprises us every day with strength for tomorrow . A gift that glows through the darkness and carries you through to the morning light. Everyday the gift of Christ unwraps a greater step for you to walk into destiny . Don’t lose the message of Christmas because you will defeat the purpose of Christ.

Christmas is and has always been an extraordinary time for sharing and giving. It is also a time for peace, love and goodwill among human kind. It is the season for celebration and for renewal. It is a time for us to forget the things that have divided us during the course of the year and to celebrate the things that binds us together. May this Christmas be like never before in your life as it comes to represent an oasis of Jesus’ warmth and selfless giving. Let it be a time for hope and renewed promise, of joyful expectation for young and old alike, a time for the giving and receiving of the Lord and all that he is about.

Just as the first Christmas heralded a new beginning, like every other Christmas since then, may this Christmas offer a new opportunity for thoughtful reflections of the year just ended, and strengthen our resolve for the year ahead. This year, as we gather with family, friends and loved ones to enjoy the season, we must look back on the year, the promises it held and the promises fulfilled in Christ , reflect on how you made it through 12 months of trials , tribulations , storms , joys , blessings and renewed strength . All you must want for Christmas this year must be the CHRIST.
I wish to extend to each and every one of you a Christmas filled with joy, God’s choicest blessings, God’s grace, togetherness, peace and above all love for one another. I also wish you and yours a prosperous and amazing New Year because you serve an AMAZING God.

Prayer Thought
Abba Father, Help me remember the birth of your son Jesus, and celebrate the true reason for this season .I am not waiting for the new year Lord but I declare that in this significant season I want to make a change to receive the gift of your son for eternity.
The greatest gift I need this year is you Jesus and I am giving you the gift of a surrendered heart and a yielded will.
I chose to close the door on haphazard living and open the door of Christ to live in me and through me. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning keep us joyful to be called your own and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
