“For the Mighty One has done great things for me, holy is His name.”
Luke 1:49

God saw this broken world
A world devoid of love
But He had an awesome promise
contemplated from above.

On a dark, cold night
Long ago and far away
A child entered the world
Sleeping on a bed of hay.

He wasn’t dressed in riches
His mother was not a queen
But His father was the King of Glory
Almighty is His name.

There was not a big feast
On the night that He was born
But a humble gathering
Of shepherds on that morn.

God’s promise came to earth
As a child, humble and sweet
So sinful, broken people
Would forever be redeemed.

Out of love came a baby
Of miraculous birth
This child would come
To change things on the earth.

God’s precious promise
Is still alive today
Will we open our hearts
And invite Him there to stay?

When life seems dark and cold
Recall that holy night
When a world plunged in darkness
Received eternal light

Let this special promise
Fill your heart with hope
And may the miracle of Christmas
Help you to always know

That admidst the darkness
There’s a bright shining star
To lead you to salvation
Jesus’ love is never far.
