RE-THEY’VE ALL GONE WEST

They’ve all gone west
Inquest of the best
They’ve all gone west
In search of a rest

They’ve left Father’s Land
For a strange Land
Soon they’ll lose Mother’s tongue
For another tongue

Over great hills, across deserts were strewn our seeds, dispersed by the winds.
Across great seas, over mountains went our prime
Dispersed by time.

Tell Mama! Tell Papa!
They’ve gone all the way
They’ve gone with the wind
They’ve gone to the west!

Tell Mama!
Her children have left Zion!
Tell Papa!
They’ve gone beyond unto Babylon!

For the excitement of the west
They’ve lost motive
For the enticement of a rest
My people are taken captive

Blackhood fall back to your roots
Come back to the booths
To thy place of birth
Thy place of death

We’ve got to nurture
Our destiny
Our culture…
…lies in our identity!

Once we were black, and we were proud
But now we’ve lost our sense of pride
The young and the old…
…and the noblest and finest
…of Mother Africa in Diaspora!

Mama Africa in dispersion!
Oh God! Have compassion!
