Come to Me,
all who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
[Matthew 11:28]
**************************
"Lord."

"Child?"

"I have this burden, but
it's too big."

"I see.
And, what is it, child?"

"It's just too big, Lord."

"For Whom, child?"

"Well, they say...."

"Who, My beloved?"

"These Christians:
they say You can take our burdens."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"I'm not sure."

[SILENCE.]

"Well, that sounds nice and all, but...."

"Tell Me, child."

"Well, what are You gonna' do
about it, Lord? What are
YOU gonna' do about it:
gimme' AMNESIA, or something?"

"No, My child."

"WELL?
WHAT, then?
WHAT?
TELL me!"

[SILENCE]

"So, I tell YOU?
SO? So WHAT?"

[SILENCE.]

"Yeah, I guess it HELPS.
But, then what?
I still GOT the burden!
I mean, it's not like
it goes AWAY,
or anything!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"I'm sorry, Lord.
I think it's very nice, but
there's nothing You can do
about it. Don't worry about it.
It's okay."

"Child, Who AM I?"

"You're the God of the universe.
But......"

"WHO AM I?"

"Well, like they say in that
song: Maker of heaven and earth?"

[NOD.]

"You know, like, You made.....
(sigh) those nasty jelly fish
that sit lying in wait, along
the Jersey coastline?"

[SMILE.]

"Hey, You want somethin'
pretty tonight, Lord,
You gonn'a havta' ask
somebody else. Ya' know
what I mean?"

[SILENCE.]

"I'm sorry, Lord.
You were very good to me, today.
And, I thank You. I do, but...."

"I'm waiting, child."

"I still don't know what
You're gonna' do with my burden
Lord: feed it to some JELLY FISH?
WHAT?"

"I made all the fish in the ocean,
child, as well as your burdens."

"Why; WHY, Lord?
But, WHY?
(silence)
I don't UNDERSTAND?"

"I'm still waiting, child."

"For WHAT."

"For you to come to Me."

O God,
Thou art my God,
I seek Thee,
My soul thirsts for Thee,
My flesh faints for Thee,
as in a dry and weary land
where no water is.
[Psalms 63:1]
