The Grass Isn’t Greener

Based on:

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.

Man always thinks
The grass is greener somewhere else
The problems we now have
We want to run away from, or put upon a shelf

God’s ways are different
As each circumstance we must master
For if He gives us something prematurely
It will eventually bring disaster

God said if we were faithful
That more He would give
If we can’t handle what we have
How then will changing places cause us to live?

When we put things ahead
Of seeking Him first
We find that our heart
Is filled with great thirst

Things will never satisfy
The deep yearning that is in our hearts
Only Jesus can fill the void
As this was God’s design, from the start

Jesus is new every morning
Unlike any material thing
Things will lose their luster
As temporal pleasure they only bring

Gaining the whole world
Will never make our grass green
All the worldly pleasures
Will never make our spirit gleam

The grass is the greenest
When our heart is one with the Lord
There is nothing that can compare
With Jesus, His Spirit, and His Word.
