Priorities

I once had to live
In my car for six weeks
I learned that there was a difference
Between a want, and a need

Things that I thought
That without, I just could not live
Were only cares of this world
That kept the real things from me, that God wanted to give

If I focus just on getting the things
I will miss what God has in store
His kingdom and righteousness
Are blessings that are so much more

Jesus himself was tempted
By the enemy in the wilderness
He was told that he could have all things
If satan as lord, He would confess

Satan is still taking us to the high mountain
And saying that all this to us that he will give
If we will just fall down and worship him
These things will cause us to live

We must still reply as Jesus did
For it is written, satan depart
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God
Only Him shall thou serve, with your heart

We still get deceived into thinking
Those things will bring our happiness
Yet the only thing that ever will
Is just to be, in God’s presence

Sometimes I think that everyone should
Spend six weeks in a car
Maybe then they would but realize
What their true priorities are.
