Religion or Relationship

Religion is but man’s attempt
To fill the void within
Though man is in control
And usually in much sin

Religion will quote the word
With no love or compassion
It will say you must do this
You must follow Jesus in my fashion

Many a person has been hurt
By the Word over their head
Even though the person meant well
The Word was not Holy Spirit led

When the Holy Spirit speaks and leads
The heart is ready to hear
The person then receives grace and strength
And the elimination of all the fear

Religion asks man to change
By his own power
It leaves out the Holy Spirit
The one that is being poured out in this hour

A relationship with Jesus
Is so much more
It produces liberty in your spirit
Is is fun, not a bore

A relationship based in love
Is gentle and kind
It always gives grace
Your spirit, It never tries to bind

Religion will always kill
As it is not by the Spirit, but by the letter
People will be repulsed
And somehow just know, there is something better.
