When we call upon God as believers and even as self proclaimed non-believers also do(Consciously and Unconsciously), in times of crisis, we oftentimes do not know how to rightfully call upon him and receive from His abundance as he has specifically promised us.

In times of trouble and tribulation we only lash out to grip at straws or like a drowning man who claws desperately at the water around him as if it could suddenly turn solid so as to have a grip-hold.
God says: my people perish for lack of knowledge and they do not receive because they ask amiss.

So how do we learn how to ask? How can we indeed have a connection when we need Him (of course we need Him every second of our lives because HE IS the very breathe that we breathe!)?

Hannah learnt how to ask-----1 Samuel 1:10-17, in verse 18 she took the next step of faith in God’s word and acceptance that He will bring His word to pass

Verses 20&23: Hannah says thank you! ------ Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called him Samuel, saying, because I have asked him of the Lord

David learnt how to receive from God by piling on the accolades and reminding God of who He is to His children and His promises in His word----Psalm 29:2---Give unto the Lord the Glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of His Holiness
He also knew how to worship and say THANK YOU LORD!

Daniel prayed in exile without ceasing, even when the end did not seem in sight, he prayed several times daily for his people (God’s people) to be re-united some day with their land.

Psalm 91:
Verse one; he that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the sh adow of the Almighty----
The one who dwells here knows THE secret; like David did to earn the keys to God’s heart, dwelling and abiding means to stay permanently in favour
Verse fifteen; he shall call upon me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him.

God expects us to remind Him (not that He forgets mind you!) of His word and promises to us, this shows our total obedience and submission to His will and ways.
Each situation that we confront in this world needs a particular attribute of the Almighty to handle it and we must learn to refer to Him in this way whenever we are confronted with situations that seem to be oppressive and non-yielding to change or seemingly persistent prayer
CALL HIM by his very name in that situation and you will see how quickly a turn around can emerge
