The revelation of my God and King
Came through pain and suffering;
In secret, You came into my room
Where pain,and tears,
And heartache loomed.
You knocked upon the gnarled
And rough hewn door,
With tear-stained cheeks
And trembling voice
I bade You, "Lord, come in."

I bore my grief alone.
For years the tears of loneliness
And isolation held me fast in its grip
Like a vice
Until I wanted to see life no more.
But one day, Your presence was felt
so close and intimate,
It could not be denied,
It seemed to give me peace inside
and calm my anxious heart.

Your voice was so strong and clear-
Audible only to my spiritual ears,
But spoke with such authority
And such tenderness;
I listened as You drew me in
Close to Your breast.
The words of truth that You spoke to me
Sank deeper and deeper still;
Along the way, through stony paths
And wrong choices,
You continued to walk with me
Until I heard with all clarity
And gave my heart completely
To the One who never gave up on me.

Years later, realize how special it was--
The way You came to me.
In my despair and hopelessness.
The cry of my heart
Did not fall on deaf ears,
But made its way to the Throne Room
Of God, and to his Son, Jesus Christ,
Who interceeded before the Father
On my behalf, so that I might
Live with Him forever.
