In Sixty Six Books

In the beginning, He created
And set into foundation
Yes! He spoke into existence
All that the enemy hated

Though man willingly fell
And chose his destination
Yet God already compelled
Set in motion his salvation

Abraham believed in God’s promise
Isaac was the son of laughter
Jacob became Israel,
And the twelve tribes thereafter

Joseph dreamed purposed visions
Yet by his own he was rejected
Yet through all of this division
God’s people would be protected
-This is Genesis

Then by God Moses commanded Pharaoh
“Let my people go!”
But he responded with a heart hard and narrow
The Lord I do not know

So God wrought many great signs
And killed all the enemy’s first born
And through the Passover He established for future time
How from Satan’s hand we were torn

He opened the sea before them
And they went forth on ground that’s dry
His covenant He established with commandments
Delivered at the top of Sinai

Manna they ate and for the ark they received command
They built also the tabernacle, and hangings of the court
The alter, ephods, candlesticks and lamp stands
Ram’s skins, shittim wood, gold and silver of all sorts
-This is Exodus

The priests are charged
And offerings must begin
Burnt offerings, meat offerings
Of peace and for sin

Instructions are given for Holy living
Making atonement for your transgressions
For all manor of thanksgiving
And with purity make confession

Let the scapegoat go free by the man that’s fit
And kill him not with your hand
For on His shoulder will all iniquity sit
He will carry it to a desolate land

There is punishment for blasphemy
And blessing if you obey His voice
The fiftieth year a Jubilee
In all you have a choice!
-this is Leviticus

How many are you
That walked thru the sea
As Moses was commanded to
You are numbered six hundred thousand and three thousand five hundred fifty

Oh why have you so tested the Lord?
That you will not enter the promise, no not one!
But from twenty years upward you shall perish
Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun

Aaron’s rod did bud
But at strife he and Moses did sin
There fore Aaron died on mount Hor
And into the land he entered not in

A prophet shall the Lord raise
And life must you choose
The servant Moses is taken away
For his composure he did lose?
-this is Deuteronomy

Arise now son of Nun
For My charge you must deliver
Take this people, every one
And cross this Jordan River

Say not a word as you compass this wall
Six times shall you go
But with trumpet and shout the walls will fall
And you will conquer Jericho

Forty and five years of time
Have I Caleb waited for this land
Now give me what is mine
Deliver Hebron into my hand

Declare this day with a shout
Yes choose with one accord
For me and those of my house
Yes we shall serve the Lord
-This is Joshua

Look over toward this oak tree
For is it not your hour
For have I not sent thee
Thou mighty man of valor

There are too many men with you to stand
Lest they boast within their hearts
But them that drink with their hands
Three hundred will I set apart

Oh wife of Manoah beware
That you hearken to all that I say
Let no razor come to the child’s hair
And drink from the vine not a day

Why did you break your vow?
You let the enemy conquer you
You even told them how
Yet in repentance God gave you victory too
-this is Judges


Turn from me to your own land
For I am far from my youth
Go back to Moab Orpah
Go back my daughter Ruth

But to Naomi did Ruth hold still
And to Bethlehem did they start
Until she gleaned of corn in a field
That happened to be Boaz’s part

Wash my daughter to find rest for you
For he winnoweth barley tonight
Uncover his feet and he’ll say what to do
Surely, he will do what is right

Ho, such a one; turn aside
And sit down at this gate
Since you will not, I will redeem
For so it is Ruth’s fate
-this is Ruth

Here my cry and vow
And the bitterness of my soul
And deliver to me a man child
And he will serve you until he’s old

Now the child served unto Eli
Until God’s voice spoke into his ears
Then he responded, “Here am I”
Speak for thy servant hears

Give us a King!
Asked Israel, yes all
So the Lord displeased with this thing
Gave unto them Saul

You are rebellious and stubborn hearted
And have done all that you wanted to do
Therefore God’s presence from you is departed
And He has rent the kingdom too

Go forth to Jesse the Bethlehemite
And anoint him, which I set apart
Consider not his stature in your sight
For I have a man after My own heart

From the Philistines came a champ
And defied all of Israel’s might
And caused fear in all the camp
For the greatness of Goliath’s height



But David, a sling, and the Lord
Slew the giant with just one throw
And took from the giant his own sword
And cut off his head with a blow

Jonathan and David became friends
David received his first wife
But Saul’s time had come to an end
And so he tried to take David’s life
-this is First Samuel

Saul and Jonathan are dead
And Israel mourned for this thing
The crown was placed on David’s head
Finally, he was king

To Jerusalem they would try to carry the ark
But Uzzah was killed along the way
Because he put his hand upon the cart
God took his life away

A beautiful woman caught David’s eye
But she was married to someone else
So in sin he had her husband killed
So as to have her for himself

From David’s sins his seed was affected
Yes God declared it with His own mouth
Through his children would David be corrected!
And much evil would arise from his house
-this is Second Samuel

Solomon became King in David’s stead
And Solomon’s task was not at all simple
Now that David the King is dead
Solomon must build the Lord’s temple

Solomon received wisdom without measure
And his judgments did set him apart
He built the temple with many great treasures
But a thousand women would taint his heart


There arose a king, more wicked than all
And he married Jezebel
And even reared an alter to Baal
That his soul might go to hell

But Elijah withstood them well
And confronted them once and again
Of Baal’s prophets on Mount Carmel
He slew four hundred fifty men

Elijah cast his mantle as he passed by
That on Elisha it did fall
And Elisha didn’t ask why
For he knew it was his call

But Ahab could not escape what Micaiah said
For his blood was spilt to the ground
Yes the wicked King in battle was dead
For between the joints was the bow found
-this is First Kings

Now Elijah said, “Tarry here I pray thee”
But Elisha would not turn away
But said rather, “let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me”
When the Lord takes you today

The certain woman’s oil endured
Another’s son yelled “My head!”
Naaman the leper was cured
Gehazi became a leper instead

There are more with us than with the enemy
Elisha prayed, Lord open his eyes
Ahab’s sons were killed, all seventy
And the house of Ahaziah died

Hezekiah the king became sick unto death
And for this he shed many great tears
For Isaiah told him he had a short time left
But the Lord gave him fifteen more years
