Window Washing



Being an afternoon custodian in an elementary school, I see my fair share of window washing. With around three hundred students enrolled, I guess on average, I wash off some three thousand dirty fingerprints every evening. The other evening the sun was setting and shining brightly through the windows. As I walked towards the windows with cleaner in hand, I saw the bright sun showing every little blemish marking the glass.
As I sprayed the window and started to wipe I imagined how Jesus the Son of God, shines through my soul. Sadly, I thought of how dirty my soul looks to Jesus, just as those dirty windows looked to me. However, as fast as I felt the pain of sin I felt a calmness of His mercy and forgiveness. Not for the goodness that I have done but what Jesus has done for me! Jesus died for my sins and washed away my sins with His blood. With His mercy, I can walk in His name knowing that one day I will be with Him in paradise.

“He saved us, not because of the good things that we did, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5 NLT.
