Beyond Me
“It’s beyond me!” I shout in frustration.
God turned my life upside down this summer and shook. After seven years of stay-at-home work and home schooling, I became a full-time working mom (a preschool teacher) with two school-aged kids who were starting formal school for the first time as a fifth and first grader. The leisurely mornings of prayer and coffee on the porch followed by intimate home classes, library trips and home school functions are gone. We’ve entered the mainstream, and we’re on the run from morning to night.
It’s hard. I come home tired from work and my husband and children want to spend time with me. I have my children’s homework to oversee, dinner and lunches to prepare, laundry, dishes… I’m not sure where the vacuum cleaner is anymore. Note to self: check beneath the pile of paperwork in the corner of the living room in your spare time next year.
It IS beyond me. I can’t do what God is calling me to do in my own strength. I’ve leapt out of my dry, cozy rowboat and I’m walking on water. Every morning I ask for God’s grace to live up to the high calling of ministering to my family at home and to His littlest disciples at work.
And beyond me, He is.

Wow..... and I thought it was just me. Surely it's obvious how far behind I am... (just check out how long it took me to get around to reading your article)... how beyond me it is to get caught up... how I can't do this by myself. Oh, but God! :) Thanks. I needed this!

I find myself there allot.... Too much to do and not near enough time to do it in. I can't do it. But He can! Thanks for the encouragement.
Debbie, you have captured truth and hope in an excellent devotional. Your writing is both succinct and poignant. Excellent job! Blessings, my friend. Cheri
What a beautiful cry! You know where your strength lies. So many mothers struggle with the same issues. You represent them well. Plus, you encourage us to savor those quiet times before the storm. I'm praying God will give you alone time with Him. And even in the chaos, abide in Him, my friend, and you can conquer the world. Hugs!
What challenges! Isn't it wonderful to know the Lord is up to them all? He sees and knows your heart. And He'll help you find that sweeper, too! Ha. Couldn't resist!
