The Life faces the Death,
While angels feel their grief;
Prayers are gasped under His breath,
While His flesh desires sleep;

He seeks His Father with bloody brow,
Though never calling His legions;
To greater will, He will bow,
The coming darker season;

The fatherless One gains for the Father
Souls to the uttermost;
He is glad to call them “brother,”
Though He’s the Lord of Hosts;

Joy comes to His heart,
Those for whom He bled;
For these, grace He imparts,
Removing guilt and dread;

Joy will come to their hearts,
Those for whom He bled;
Justice, to Satan, He imparts,
Pierced heel crushing his head.
