Encouragement
A little boy sat whittling in the shade of a tree near where there was a 'fork' in the road.
Soon a car drove up, stopped and a man leaned his head out the window and asked,
"Where does the road to the right go, son?"
The boy shook his head and shrugged his shoulders, without a word.
"Well, then where does the road to the left go?"
The driver got the same disinterested answer.
By this time, he was somewhat miffed at the lack of concern from the lad.
"You're pretty dumb aren't you?" he commented. "Don't you know ANYthing?"
"I know I ain't lost" came the swift reply.
*************
Can YOU say that with equal certainty "I know I'm not lost"?
Or to change a negative into a positive...
"Do you know that you are saved, that you are a Christian, assured of Eternal Life?"
The Titanic was the ship that was supposed to be unsinkable...
but the only thing that it ever did, was sink!
When it left England, all kinds of passengers were onboard - millionaires, celebrities, people of moderate means and the poor folks who were working down below. But when they put the list in the newspapers a short time later, only two categories were noted: 'LOST and SAVED'. Tragedy had crossed out all other distinctions.
Out on life's sea there are scores of classifications, but sometimes...
we tend to give them far more notice than they deserve.
But when this voyage is over, it won't matter whether you were rich or poor....
whether you were a butcher, baker or a candle stick maker...
whether you lived in the backwoods or on the boulevard...
whether you drove a Cadillac or pushed an apple cart!
All such distinctions will disappear and only two lists will remain... LOST and SAVED.
We are dealing with absolutes. Do you know for sure into which of these categories you will be placed, by the Supreme Court of the Universe, where Jesus is Judge?
LOST or SAVED?.....which are you?
Here are several verses that tell us that we can be 'Saved and Sure':
1) John 3: 16, 36: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have Everlasting Life. He that believes on the Son has Everlasting Life and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him."
2) II Tim. 1:12: "For the cause of Christ I suffered many things, nevertheless, I am not disappointed for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.
3) I John 5:12-13: "He who has the Son has life; and he who has not the Son of God has not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have Eternal Life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God."
4) John 10:27-30: "My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me...
and I give unto them, Eternal Life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are One."
Going to church doesn't save a person, but I've never known who really felt 'sure' about their salvation who did not go to church (if he could). Many shut-ins 'would and could not'. My concern is for those who 'could and would not'. The Will decides it.
CONCLUSION:
Suppose someone said:
"Preacher, I don't believe all of this.
I don't believe the Bible....nor that Jesus is the only Savior...
nor that there is a Heaven and hell."
Well, let's suppose that you are right and I am wrong and The Bible is not true. You die.
They put you in a box, roll you to the front of some church.
The Preacher says a few words over you.
They put you in a hole and cover you up.
I die. They put me in a box, roll me to the front of some church.
The Preacher says a few words over me.
They put me in a hole and cover me up.
That's it....you're right and I'm wrong.
Now, let's suppose that you are wrong and I'm right.
The Bible is true....Jesus is the only Savior.
Those who receive Him go to Heaven and those who reject Him, go to hell.
I die. They put me in a box, roll me to the front of some church.
The Preacher says a few words over me.
They put me in a hole and cover me up. But that is only my body.
That part of me that is Eternal, my spirit, wings it's way to the presence of Jesus...
Who says, "Enter into the joys prepared for you".
Heaven becomes my Eternal Home.
You die. They put you in a box, roll you to the front of some church.
The Preacher says a few words over you.
They put you in a hole and cover you up.
But that is only your body!
That part of you that lives on, your spirit, wings it's way to the Judgment....
where you must face Christ, the One you rejected.
He says to you, "Depart from me, I never knew you".....
and hell becomes your Eternal home.
*************************************
My friend, you can not afford to be wrong here! In some areas of life, you can make a choice and be wrong and it may not matter that much.
But when it comes to your Eternal Destiny, you dare NOT be wrong!
A good question is: "When you to where you're going, where will you be?"
I don't know that much about the timing of the Judgment...
but I DO KNOW that Jesus is my Savior and Lord.
When I face Him as Judge, I want to know that He is mine....and I am His.

Thomas
that Christians talk about
eternity - enough! Coming
to Christ, I have read
more and more of the Gospel -
and what the Lord says is
very scary - to be without
Him! God Bless.
To be sure that we are saved, we must be sure who we worship and why. Jesus Christ is the Only Way, The Truth and The Life. His promises are true, and His Salvation is free to all of us who believes, and accepts Him, and who are willing to repent of our sins. Very well presented! Thank you Brother.
