Noah Webster was one of the most prolific textbook writers of the Founding Fathers. One of his textbooks, History of the United States was used in American public schools classrooms for generations. He told his students that when they were entitled to vote, they were to consider voting as a great responsibility, and that they were to vote for officials who would rule “in the fear of God”. *
Mark Twain was another who held similar views. He wrote, “It will be conceded that a Christian’s first duty is to God. It then follows as a matter of course, that it is his very duty to carry out his Christian code of morals to the polls and vote them. Whenever he shall do that, he will NOT find himself voting for an unclean or dishonest man. If Christians should vote their duty to God in the polls, they would carry every election, and do it with ease." As it turns out we have too many citizens who take their duty lightly and elect unprincipled, immoral, and ungodly men into office. Our government is corrupt from the top down, or rather from the voting booth up . . .what a shame!” **
Mark Twain also wrote, “If the Christians of America could be persuaded to vote God and a clean ticket, it would bring about a moral revolution that would be incalculably beneficial. It would save the country.”
Today we have economic prosperity in our country, but you know it has come at a very heavy price. You know that the Founders were a strong religious people (Christians). They engraved their coins and currencies with “In God We Trust”. Today the majority of our people do not want to have anything to do with God and as a result we have become a sinful nation, no longer a Christian nation. Many of our presidents often referred to our nation as a “Christian nation”. The last President to do this was Harry Truman. We are living in a post-Christian culture that has completely lost site of what “In God We Trust” means. We are reminded in Proverbs 14:34 that “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people”. And then in Psalms 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord! Our nation is in jeopardy of losing it all. We are going in the opposite direction that our Founders established for this nation. We must reverse our course.

I agree. I can express the same sentiments about my little country which is overwhelmed with mainly American TV programmes. They have a profound and damaging effect on the minds of the youth. Thanks for posting.
An incisive article, Kevin. I don't live in the US, but have no doubt what you say is true. The same goes for Australia also.
