I must admit that I have been derailed to a large extent in my personal evangelism. I know it is a result of drifting and being pulled by the current of complacency and mediocrity in my precious relationship with our eternal Father.

There is no proven method for evangelism it is all subjected to the Holy Spirit directed by a sovereign God. Sometimes there is a window of opportunity; at times the window is closed. This does not mean that I stop having a plan, going with intent, joining clubs or organization to be in the market place.

I am not called to be a salesman for the Gospel or foster any thoughts that it is going to build the church and provide the financial means for successful endeavours. There is nothing wrong with this for it does take an increase in membership and giving to finance the daily operation of a local church.

In the context of the Great Commission, I have to go as a Testimony of Jesus Christ. A Testimony of Hope, True Freedom and a purpose for living that cannot be satisfied by my material possessions.

Jesus said it best, "You are the light of the world." In effective that is my evangelism. A light illuminates, it dispels the darkness (that is an absence of light). It shows everything, good or bad based on the power of the light (covering the light diminishes its power).

I have to also be aware of how I measure evangelism, I can be used as an agent to advance God's Kingdom and in effect not add to my local church membership. I cannot use this means to determine growth, I water seeds already planted. Knowing they hold future promise.

The kingdom of Jesus Christ is not only beyond our efforts; it's even beyond our vision. Nothing we can do is complete for the Kingdom always lies beyond us. We can provide the catalyst of growth that is beyond our capabilities, like yeast plays in the baking process.

It takes true humility (a growing process for me) to lead and evangelize for we are part of an enterprise that is so incredibly beautiful and grand.
