When I started this newsletter (or ezine whichever) I had every intention of following my mentor's suggestion to send you this newsletter on a regular basis, at least weekly. But then it happened.

My best friend and her family invited me to move to Alabama with them. Of course I said yes, especially when Linda told me as long as she was living I would never have to go into a nursing home. I had lived in a nursing home for three weeks after hurricane Charlie and worried constantly that I might have to live in one before I died. I had reason to worry since I have no immediate family. So when Linda invited me I said yes! without hesitation.

Jason had bought 40 acres of virgin land, and much had to be done. There were many delays, not the least of which was construction of my apartment. Then all of a sudden my therapist found out that the trouble I was having with my neck and back was poor posture caused by my power chair, made inquiries and found out Medicare would pay for a custom wheelchair, and found out who in that area provided a custom wheelchair. We got the wheelchair ordered and then I had to wait until it came in because there would be modifications that might have to be made to it.

Linda and Jason went down to Florida and rented a moving van on Monday, Kevin came to make the modifications on Thursday, and we left on Saturday, the 3rd of February, at 6:45 in the morning and pulled on to Jason's property at 8:30 that evening.

You wouldn't believe the nice apartment my new family had built for me. It is compact and completely handicap accessible. It is faced with a glassed in porch where the family and I will eat, when everything left over is in storage and it warms up. Speaking of the weather I had been asked by friends at my former home how I was going to put up with the cold weather here in Alabama. My stock answer was I didn't go out in Florida when it's hot, why should I go out when it's cold in Alabama.

I'm sure there will be more news 'from the hills of Alabama'. I will keep you informed. Next time I'm going to relay to you, in two separate editions, how I got involved with Xango. Don't be mislead by the title - Yikes - What a Fool. It will be amusing, although back in 2004 I didn't find it amusing.
