There we were....the two of us
Friends like there had never been a moment apart
I asked when you had forgiven me and you laughed
It was just the way it was

We were together at the fair
Looking around at all there was to see
My heart was lifted higher than ever
It was okay between us again

FOr one brief moment when I awoke
I felt the lingering warmth of your friendship
Wrapped around me like a blanket of love
Until the clouds lifted from my tired eyes

Drifting reluctantly away on the winds of reality
You were not there
You were not my friend
I was not forgiven

I sighed and slipped out of bed
A happy day lay ahead
Filled with God, my family, laughter and love
But there would be no you

Time has healed all but my dreams
In my dreams you are still my sister
My very best friend
My kindred spirit and confidante

In my dreams there is no pain
Just the joy of believing
That I didn't lose you forever
After all
