Prayers

Well here we are again, another season coming to a close. It simply amazes me at how fast time flies. Although I will be honest, like most parents I am extremely excited that school is getting ready to start. I am so ready for my son to go back to school, to learn and make new friends and of course be gone for the better part of the day.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love my child as any good parent does, but I think most of us get tired and bored of trying to entertain our kids all summer. But of course going back to school requires money and more money. School clothes and school supplies, new back packs, lunch boxes and lunch money.

But with all that in mind the one thing that should be in the front of our minds is praying for our kids. Often times we say idle prayers for our children at night before bed or whenever we think about it, which truth be told could be more often. Not that we don’t love our children but we just assume they will be ok.

But I just want to encourage you this year to begin the school year with prayer. Prayer for your children. Begin to pray, favor over them with friends and teachers. Pray that the Lord will surround them with people of good influence and keep the others at bay. Plead the blood of Jesus over them and pray for a hedge of protection.

As much as this world is changing, it is growing more morally corrupt every day. I want to talk serious and straightforward with you today parent to parent and or grandparent. As most of you know our kids are being exposed to drugs and sex younger and younger every year. And society is telling them that it is ok to have sex before marriage and that oral sex is not sex. The enemy is luring them online with online chatting and right into the homes of online predators. Making them believe that it is perfectly ok and innocent to flirt with strangers and even have online sex.

Parents beware, this could be happening right in your home. Kids are surfing the net and while you think they are doing homework they are really looking at Porn. Now I’m not saying that all children are doing this, but just because they aren’t, doesn’t mean they wont. It is gut wrenching to think about.

But we need to remember that we are at war and this war is not physical. We need to be ever mindful that the enemy is after our children, they are the next generation. He will continue to attack them, unless we pray for that hedge of protection every day.

We should be fasting and praying for our children on a regular basis. Offering ourselves as a living sacrifice in the name of our children. Lay hands on them every day before they leave for school, regardless of age. If your children are young like mine, them make it a tradition. Pray for them before they leave the house or at least before they get out of your car. Make prayer something they can look forward to. Ask them if there is anything they want prayer about, and then pray with them.

My friends we live in difficult times and difficult times call for drastic measures. Don’t allow the enemy to rob your family of anything precious, keep them protected with unwavering prayer.
