What Did He Write?

While Jesus wrote,
They already knew…
How guilty they were
Through and through.

They looked to accuse...
The woman and Him.
Hating the Good News,
They walked away grim.

He stood with her -
not with them.
Pray to understand,
All that He has planned.

He wrote on the ground
He wrote on stone
He writes on the hearts,
To let it be known-

That …He is the Truth
He is the Way
He is the Word
We can trust and obey.



John 8 :10
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw
none but the woman, he said unto her,
Woman, where are those thine accusers?
hath no man condemned thee?

I find it to be one of the most comforting of scriptures and it touches my heart each time I read it. And what a thought provoking poem you've written, as always with such flare. Beautiful work.

Yes, I have often wondered what Jesus wrote on the ground. It seems that the accusers weren't about to stick around to find out. Maybe He didn't write anything. Maybe He wrote that He loved them - the accusers - just as He loved the woman accused. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
