A house full of guests,busyness,chatter,laughter and socialising.In one corner was Martha busily trying to satisfy the guests by working and feeding them.In the other corner was Mary sitting at Jesus’ feet listening to every word that proceeded out of his mouth and catching them like jewels and precious stones.
Martha looked to Jesus and asked him to send Mary to help her.Martha looked at Mary as though she was not being useful, yet Jesus reassured Martha and also showed her that Mary chose a good path to sit at his feet.

Many times we go through ministry working for Jesus and forgetting to sit at his feet.You know , there is nothing wrong in serving him but he is also waiting for us to choose the good path whisch is giving him our full attention by sitting at his feet.Down at Jesus feet is the highest place to be.Even Jesus took time to retreat away from the busyness and crowds to find his solace and renewal in God.

Being busy for God may just keep you out of his presence.The devil may not be able to stop us from going to church but he can cut us off from having a relationship with God.A coal away from the fire will soon grow cold.Be balanced in all you do but give the highest priority to sit in the presence of God. Even if you don’t have anything to say or feel like you can’t pray long enough,just wait in stillness and allow the Lord to minister to you.When we are in trouble,we are on our knees continually and when all is well , we forget our knee position.It is like saying to God, give me trouble and i will pray.

Lets not only remember the throne room of God and the holy of holies when trouble comes.Today we can take a lesson from these two sisters to have Mary’s heart to adore Jesus and Martha’s hands to serve Jesus.While Martha was serving,worrying,hurrying,working,labouring,busy and bothered , Mary was sitting,worshipping,hearing,listening,understanding,learning,loving and being blessed.
God wants our attention and because he loves us so , no matter what it takes , he will get it.

Lets not wait too long before we learn our growing lessons.Nothing pleases the Lord more than when we acknowledge him and crown him with our time and worship.A busy child of God is a frantic,worried,anxious,imbalanced and focussed on feelings person and a ‘at his feet child of God’ is a prayerful,quiet,peaceable person focused on Christ.

What Martha was doing was not wrong but Christ wants our attention first.After all if he could feed the 5000 with 5 loaves and two fish , he would help us with our serving.Don’t misunderstand and stop working,NO,take time off and wait at Jesus’ feet first.Godly people will do Godly things in God’s time.

LUKE 10:38-42
38) Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39) And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40) But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41) And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42) But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.


Prayer Thought
Dear Lord Jesus,slow me down from busyness so that I can come into your presence regularly and daily.Give me a true heart to worship you and wait on you and give me hands that will serve you diligently.You have my complete attention O Lord as I have yours.In Jesus name I pray.Amen.
