Now when I suffer
I don't suffer alone.
A friend or 2 or 3
are usually near by
wanting to dry my eyes,
praying and staying
and reminding me
of who I am,
of God's great plan,
taking me to dinner,
loving me up.
It means so much.
Blessing me,
encouraging me
to stand up
to the devil.
Reminding me of
my heritage.
Making me laugh
and dance.
Telling me stories
of God's victories.
The deepest intimacy
is sincerly sharing
in on another's sufferings.
A place of love
is touched
when friends
help you hang on
when times are tough.
You don't forget that bond.
It's supernatural glue stong.
And love can
float you above
all that is rough
to the depth
of fellowship
that nothing can touch
not sunny day contentment
no, not nothing as such.
Just that kind of love
that is Christ caring strong.
