A Revolutionary Showed the Way

“Kill her, Kill that sinner” as the crowd chanted
The blood-thirsty crowd egged on undaunted
As lay upon the ground a battered figure in shame
Taking upon her the sins of all to blame

A calm man walked and stood in front of the crowd
Resplendent in a white tunic and red shroud
He drew upon the ground a line so straight
That divided the fallen and the ones that berate

“Cast the first stone, those of you who have not sinned”
An eerie calm descended on the maddening din
The right to punish must only come from those pure of heart
Who is this man a soft murmur began to start

The crowd moved away in grudging embarrassment
No one wanted to prove himself heaven sent
They asked each other who was the man who ruined their day
Little they realized for their own salvation, a revolutionary showed the way.

As popular polls and talk shows egg us on
“Do you think we are right or they wrong”
That revolutionary’s words come to light
Like a beacon in the darkest night
“Look into your own souls where the devil holds sway”
Salvation will only come, when we choose to follow the revolutionary’s way.
