Down, so down, my words surround;
They’re like my heart that falls apart;
I’m seen through them; it should be You,
In them see sin, but I want true;

So I come and hide inside;
The Son’s the One; my sole Abide;
His love is strength to embolden me;
His truth’s my breath, to help me breathe;

You made me twice, both out of love;
You paid the price, I’m borne above;
And then I see the love remaining;
Still with me and still claiming
He made my person as His own blessing;
This one I’m cursing, He’s confessing;

“See the one My hand has made;
A work begun and unrestrained;
What’s in you is of My will;
My joy’s so true, to make you still;

“So be that joy in My sight;
With words as toys, write what’s right;
Abide in Me, and I in you;
This muse so free, with grace so true;

“Take the pen, as My sword;
Be My amen; I’m the Lord;
Let what you write agree with Me;
Fight the good fight in grace and mercy;
Be the one that I have made;
Good work begun and unrestrained;
Who you are is My desire;
So be My star and holy fire;

“By your will, I am your choice;
You’re choosing still, and I rejoice;
Who you are while you roam;
Is My art, and My poem.

“Enjoy this season, in its time;
This, My reason, and My rhyme;
My plan for you, with peace and hope;
Seek My will true; for it, grope;
You are My work, made in Me;
Do not shirk; look up and see”

Author's Note:
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”—Ephesians 2:10

The Greek word for “workmanship” is “poiema”, where we get the word “poem.”
