Lost in my own house.

I felt quite tired after a tedious day and went to bed earlier than usual, almost immediately after dinner. My wife urged me to stay a bit longer so we could watch the 10.00pm news together as we normally do. I could not help it; I must have ‘passed out’ before half past nine.

I woke up around 3.30am and feeling refreshed, I decided to study the bible and perhaps say some prayers. I left the bedroom gently shutting the door in order not to arouse the ‘sleeping beauty’, and I entered the living room for the prayer and study session. Having been so engrossed in the study, hardly did I realize that I could be lost in my own house just as one could be lost in concentration.

There was a sudden blackout which I did not prepare for and there was such a pitch darkness that would make a child cry. I muttered some words of prayer and started back towards the bedroom to get the battery powered lamp or torch. After a few steps, I suddenly lost orientation, stumbled on the first chair, and knocked my knee on another stool. I gave a startled smile and started groping with my hands in darkness until my minds eye located where I was. Eureka!

Then I realized that darkness and Light may be extreme contrasts, they are the same to El-Shaddai and I bowed down in the dark and worshipped. Even in pitch darkness, He is with us. Emmanuel!
