To Share

A gift you give
A Love you give
The hand you give to me,
With the touch of your fingers
That I might feel what you feel.
That you might take my pain
and transform it
into the Joy desired by many.
But to me you give,
thinking not twice what it might mean.
Even though it might bring you pain,
you give.
With every touch from me,
you transform my pain
As you take it upon yourself
To return it with more and more Joy
Trusting that I will one day in return
Give my hand in the same way
to feel another’s pain
Not to run, but to hold on tight
to do the same as you,
As I willingly feel the pain of another,
only to allow you to transform their pain
into the Joy you gave me ,
because you trusted
I would
