The Gay Agenda and the Solution

As I heard the shocking announcement of the Episcopal Church’s decision to ordain its’ first gay bishop, I thought about how the gay agenda has crept into the church. Decades ago, you would not find such extreme tolerance of this lifestyle in any denomination, now we have a bishop who is happy to be a homosexual and ignores Scripture’s rebuke of this lifestyle. Christian leaders should point their congregations to God and His Word, not lead them astray. This decision made by the Episcopal Church is damaging to the Church’s mission because unbelievers will probably think, “I don’t see why they’re preaching against homosexuality, after all there is a gay bishop.” It’s going to be even tougher for us to reach out to the gay community.

Now we have the threat of the legalization of gay marriages. Just recently, a gay couple from my hometown who got married in Canada had their wedding published in our newspaper, a first for the publication. Fifty years ago, you automatically knew that a traditional marriage was between a man and a woman. Now the liberals in Hollywood, the government and unfortunately our churches are redefining marriage. We should not need a constitutional amendment to tell us what marriage is, but it has gotten to that point. Last year Nickelodeon, which is supposed to promote family-friendly programming, aired a TV special on same-sex couples who adopted children. This shows how far we have strayed from biblical teachings.

Many of us think Disneyworld is one of the safest and positive places for our children. And it still is to some extent, unless you’ve seen the Gay Day activities that have surfaced recently. On an episode of the 700 Club some years ago, a reporter talked about how men dress up in women’s clothing, waving their rainbow flags and gay pride color, purple. Do you see how they distort the rainbow and the color purple? In the Bible story of Noah, a rainbow appeared after the flood, signifying that God will no longer destroy the world with a flood. In addition, when you think of purple, you think of royalty. Recently, the American Family Association urged Christians to boycott ABC, who now owns Disneyworld, and the theme park itself.

Just because a homosexual calls himself or herself gay, it does not mean that they really are when you think about the original definition of the word gay. This word means happy. However, when you factor in the depression, suicide rates, hostility by heterosexuals and the devastating consequences of AIDS, you will see that this lifestyle is not gay. This is what Hollywood does not want you to see.

There is hope for the homosexual. If you are in this lifestyle, understand that God loves you unconditionally and wants to change your life. He wants to give you an eternal home in heaven and does not condemn you. Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead so you can have His life inside of you. If you would accept Christ as your Savior and Lord, you will find eternal forgiveness, an eternal home, and a new beginning. Even if you stumble into sin after becoming a Christian, God will pick you up and start you on your way again. Your past will be erased forever and you can focus on the plans God has for you.

Well written, and with compassion, Thea. I like your last para, but would put the word repentance in there. Any homosexual or any other sinner has to repent to be born again.

Thea, I totally understand what you're saying. It's so disappointing to hear what the Episcopalian Church has done, and it just makes me think that Jesus has got to be coming back soon. Thanks for this! (& Keep writing!)
