Verse:
Up early with the light,
A scratching in my throat;
I sense I’m blind in my sight,
Smelling creosote;

Here he comes; he’s back again,
The one He took me from;
I recognize the stench of sin,
Unworthy of the Son;

Chorus:
I confess that I digress;
Shape-shifting like the clouds,
This weary one’s a mess;
A live man in a shroud;

I confess that I fall back,
Two steps in the mire;
I’d look back but I lost track,
My back feels the fire;

Verse:
In my pride, I’m humbled;
What a foolish wise man;
Gracefully I stumbled
Into the enemy’s game plan;

You commit to no man,
In Your word I see;
Can’t trust a son of Adam,
Especially if he’s me;
