(From my book "Secure the Fort (And Remain Under God),A Military Mother's Message to America" Xlibris June 2007)

My Silent Hero

You are my silent hero
I know not what you did
All I know is that you served
And your suffering silently hid

May God give you peace of mind
Throughout each day you live
May He wrap you in His love and care
And comfort through His presence give

I thank you for your service
To keep us secure and free
I know it was very hard for you
And in your mind you still see

The stories of war are ever present
Never far from a soldier’s mind
Just know I pray for you
And respect these emotions I find

You carry chapters within your mind
And history within your heart
Things we only read about
You knew from the very start

I want to express my gratitude
For the sacrifice you made
You did not suffer needlessly
For I have my freedom today

Every American that walks the street
And goes to church to pray
Have you to thank my soldier friends
Who silently suffer today

A very heart-wrenching poem, Lucy, from the heart of a mother who has children in the military. We don't understand sometimes what is happening "over there" but we are thankful that there are those who are willing to give their lives for what they think is right, and sacrifice an easier life for the tensions that they meet every day. Fear is never far from them, but courage stands at their sides. Thanks, Lucy, for keeping these facts before us.

Lucy,

This is a great poem Lucy. I really enjoyed it. With Christ's Love,

Julia
