O come, let us worship and bow
down,
let us kneel before the Lord,
our Maker!

"I was watching my friend's
new baby, tonight...."

"Yes. I know, child."

"She's so beautiful, Lord,
particularly when she looks
at her mother with her
huge, adoring eyes. It's
really something."

"Yes. It is, child."

"You know I've never had kids,
so I haven't had much
experience with seeing
a newborn baby's eyes."

"Yes. I know, child."

"Her eyes are adoring,
and almost worshipful;
it is when she looks at her
mother, that she is the
most happy.
(silence)
Is that the way You want
us to look at You, Lord:
like a six week old baby....
full of wonder and adoration?"

"Yes, child."

"Why do I have trouble
with that, Lord?"

"Because of your pride."

"ME, Lord? ME?
No way.......!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"Just Who are you speaking
to, child?"

"Eh......YOU?"

[NOD.]
"And, Who knows you,
better than yourself,
child?"

"My veterinarian?"
[smile]
Yeah, I know, Lord.
I'm just kidding."

"Stop kidding with Me, child.
Look at Me!"

(Turn away.)
"Oh, LORD! I don't want
to talk about my PRIDE!
Can't we talk about something
else? It's such an icky subject!
(wave hands away)
Let's talk about LOST, tonight;
what did You think of poor
Charlie..........."

[SILENCE.]

"Okay, okay! So, what's
wrong with a little pride,
anyhow, Lord? I don't
think it's that bad; in fact,
I always thought it was
a good thing."

"Not with Me, child;
not with Your Lord."

"You mean, like, I'm
supposed to lay it all
down, when I come to
You? I don't know,
Lord; that's kind of
a tough thing to do."

"Yes it is, child.
But, what was it
you were asking Me,
tonight?"

"Eh.......You mean
about the joy part,
Lord? You mean,
this part in Ezra:

....for the Lord
had made them
joyful.....
[Ezra 6:22]

This part, Lord?
Yeah, I remember
somethin' about it.....
what was it, You
mean, about making
ME joyful, Lord?"

[NOD.]

"What's this got
to do with having
the eyes of a baby.....
(silence)
Oh. I see.
You know, Lord,
it's been a while
since I was a six week
old baby..........but,
I guess I can give
it a TRY."

"Try it, My precious.
Try it, and see."
