Humor
For your Maker is your Husband,
the Lord of hosts is His name.
[Isaiah 54:5]

"I'm sorry, Lord."
"About what, child."
"Well, first of all,
my fellow writers say
they don't ask You
dumb questions like I do."
"Ah, I see."
"Well, I say, TOO BAD!"
"Why, child."
"Well, look, Lord;
how about all the
stupid stuff WE have
to put up with -
I think we have every
right to ask You
ridiculous questions!"
"Well said, child."
"I think so, too, Lord.
Anyway, back to my
original point: I'm
thinking about breaking up
with You, Lord."
"Talk to Me, child."
"Well, I've just been
very dissatisfied with this
relationship: You hardly
ever answer my prayers,
I have to wait forever to
hear from You, Your
Word always sounds like
You're in a cranky mood,
and to be honest, I really
need Someone with a better
Sense of Humor."
"Better than what, My precious."
"Well.......at least equal
to MINE, Lord."
"Ah, I see.
And, from Whom did you
get your sense of humor
from, My Beloved?"
"Eh........my mother?"
"And, Who Else?"
"Well, Lord......
I mean, BOTH my
parents........."
"And, from Whom did
THEY get it, child?"
"Well, how far do we
have to go back, Lord?
I have to get to bed soon,
and I still have the
litter boxes to clean.
Who do You mean:
ADAM? Oy, please; I
don't think THAT guy was
smart enough for a sense
of anything, Lord."
"You would be surprised, child."
"Yeah. I would be, Lord.
Although, I always liked
the way he blamed everything
on his wife, and that snake.
It was such a modern thing to do."
[NOD.]
"Well, My precious?"
"Well, what?
Oh! Oh, I see, Lord;
You mean I got my sense
of humor from YOU?
Neah! No WAY!"
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"I don't know, Lord;
how come there's
not more humor in
Your Book?"
"Have you READ all
of It, child?"
"Well, not exactly;
I like to skip around,
a lot......although, I
HAVE read all of
Jonah; that was
pretty good."
"Yes, it was, child.
But, I want you to
read ALL of My Word,
not just bits and
pieces."
"Yeah, I guess so.
I'll try - You know,
I'm still struggling
to get through Matthew.
So, eh...........
what about it, Lord?"
"What about WHAT, child?"
"About the two of us, Lord;
do You think we might
have a chance, together?"
"I don't know, My child;
that all depends if you
can keep your sense of humor."

And the Lord spoke to the fish,
and it vomited out Jonah
upon the dry land.
