Invisible Cables of Love


We were sitting alone in the twilight,
My four year old daughter and I,
Watching the host of beautiful stars
Shinning brightly above in the sky.

"Mommy, does God, up in Heaven,
Have a string tied to each little star?
And, does He hold the string in His hand
To keep it from going too far?"

Then, as the shooting star fell,
With its bright stream of light through the air,
"I guess that little star pulled too hard
And the string broke. Don't you, Mommy dear?"

It was only a sweet, childish, thought ...
But how true of our Father above.
For not only the stars, but His children, are held
By invisible cables of love.
