Sometimes…
I should like to be a flower
High upon the wall;
Hidden midst the bouquet
Of flowers big and tall.
Sometimes…
I should like to be a beetle
Beneath the garden stone;
Hidden under cover
Quiet and all alone.
Sometimes…
I should like to be a snowflake
Floating from the sky;
Piled all together
Unique no more am I.
Then Sometimes…
I should like to be a lion
Prowling oh so fierce;
Golden eyes a-gleaming
Through inky darkness pierce.
Or…
I should like to be an eagle
Flying free and high;
No worries of this life
To ever make me sigh.
Maybe…
I should like to be a seedling
Floating in the wind;
Letting the breeze take me
Some place I’ve never been.
Or…
I should like to be a river
Never looking back;
Only moving forward
Not what in life I lack.
Sometimes…
I should like to be a poet
Writing verse and rhyme;
Oh, that is what I am
You see this poem is mine!
