Marriage

Last night at the softball game,
it got so cold out there,
that I didn't think I'd ever get warm,
it just didn't seem to be fair!

I had worn two light layers,
and carried with me a jacket that made one more,
the jacket went on very shortly,
and a blanket I was wishing for...

Then another layer you brought from the car,
I put that one on soon as I could,
and then I borrowed another sweatshirt,
thinking this will do it, I think it should.

It made me think of how our love,
just grows a brand new layer each day,
and I can put it on in the morning
full of words only a heart can say.

Then later on, as the day goes by,
another layer I see,
and put that one on, wrapped up in the blessing,
thinking 'happier I could not be!"

But then I spot yet another layer,
waiting to wrap around me anew,
and bask in the sweet caring warmth,
of the love shared between us two.

Each layer melts into my heart,
and waits expectantly for one more,
for love never reaches the end,
ever higher my heart can soar!

Oh, how I thank God for providing the layers,
creating them with love so deep and true,
and laying them out where they will be found,
knowing each one will make our love brand new.

My prayer is that I never miss one,
that I pick them all up each and every day,
and bring them straight to you, my love,
wrapping our hearts together in every way.

There are not words to say it enough,
nor things enough that I might do,
that will ever express how very much,
how deep, high, wide and long is how much I LOVE YOU!
