Footprints

In vision or in dream I chanced to see
A child of God awalkin’ - much like me;
And prints were left upon life’s seashore sand,
The prints of two who walked along this land.

The child of God, so grateful for his Lord.
Who walked beside with guiding, comfort words,
Looked back to see the footprints on the shore
And saw aways one set of prints no more.

In places where the mountain peaks were reached
Always the two sets seemed to run so free -
But in the lowest valleys of distress
The child, perplexed, saw only one deep set.

“I do not understand, Dear Father Love,
You said that you’d go with me ‘til above
We’d walk together for eternity,
And leave our footprints by the Crystal sea,,,”

“My Child, I love you with undying love,
I would not leave you here nor yet above,,,
The places where one set of prints you see,,,
Those prints are Mine,...for there...I carried thee.”
