Encouragement
A DifferentPerspective
Did you ever reach a city in the middle of the night?
And be dazzled by the splendor of the gleaming city lights?
...Heaven used to seem a place so very far away -
With its windows brightly shinning and its streets of gold array;
But like a far off city with its splend’rous, flashing lights -
Through Heaven’s door I fancied only strangers in its light.
I knew that I would love them for the book had told me so,
But... I had so many loved ones here...I had no desire to go.
Then one by one I watched them as the years went rolling by;
As so many of my loved ones reached their home up in the sky.
Now the longer that I’m left here, the greater my desire
To reach that Home in Zion where my loved ones have retired.
And...Heaven may be far off - but the aspect sure has changed -
For the golden streets are full of folk who know and call my name!
Oh, blessed, dear Redeemer - You have worked it out for me!
Thank God! I can make Heaven, and live eternally!

Funny how that works out in the lives of believers. When I first got saved I said "Lord, keep me around a little while longer" I had so many things to do, people to love and witness to, so very much was ahead of going home. As the years have gone by, I keep saying "Lord, I'm ready when you are." My work list is no closer to done, but the longer I live for the Lord the more I look forward to that "retirement". I loved this article. God bless.
