I only needed

one glass of caffeine

in my college days

as dancing queen.

Til one clear day

I felt a switch

All that seemed fun

was fully flipped.

All to my glory

I counted loss

The room became a live painting

by Hieronymous Bosch.

There sat He

at a table alone

His sad eyes pleaded

"Please come home."

I tried to leave

but the beat brought me back

So I tracked back

for one last dance.

Then came the heartache

close behind it the vow

"I will only dance

with my Jesus now."

To those sitting

on the church bench

Your day is coming

Don't miss your chance.

But you must wait perched

as if an eagle

and listen for the wind

that lifts your wings so regal.

When it comes

just mount up into the heavenlies

to the seat where you can

speak things into being.
