Empty Heart

Oh, clean my heart, Lord Jesus!
Sweep it, every corner, bare.
Then, lovingly, may I adorn and
Place Your pleasures there?

No room for any vice at all,
Set watchmen at the door.
Place a bit upon my tongue
And leave it evermore!

The things You love, teach me to love;
The thoughts You entertain.
Teach me the patience, Lord, to have
And how Your Heaven's gained.

My only deep desire is, now,
To understand Your ways
Until, at last, I can command
My eyes to see Your face!
