Unveiled

I gave the thanks ~
I broke the bread ~
I told them I would go ~
They didn't hear
Or understand ~
How could I make them know?

I washed their feet ~
I showed them how ~
To serve a God like Me ~
They knew My love ~
But not enough ~
To do a thing ~ but flee.

I went alone ~
Desserted by
The hearts I loved so much ~
I left the world
Unaided by
All but a simple touch.

I walked the way ~
(Emmaus road ~)
I hid from searching eyes.
I broke the bread
And opened up
This old worlds great surprise!

I'll come again ~
Just as I said ~
But men won't watch the skies.
Come, join the few
Who watch for Me
With lovelight in their eyes!
