Five nights of four year olds.
I’d rather have a common cold.

No, not really it has been a blast.
I’d forgotten kids could be so fast.

In one night I lost Elizabeth four times.
I thought I was losing my mind.

We averaged seven, 3 girls, 4 boys
There was Lee and Austin and Cory.

Chris and Alex and, Emily
The twins Emma and Molly.

Now that was a chore to tell them a part
We assigned seats. We thought we were smart.

Then Emma and Molly wore matching clothes
We had to look for that spot on the nose.

Lee and Austin have been almost like brothers
They both memorized, “Be kind to others.”

Cory remembered Naomi, by a shot and a horse clue, you see.
Horses say “nay”, shots make you say “Oh, me”

We learned what Naomi and Ruth’s friendship meant.
We shucked corn to remember the event.

We made toothpaste oceans with sticker fish
We all smelt like dental hygienists.

Molly and Emma and Lee played with a puppy a while
‘Til she got loose and chased Emma a mile.

Austin caught the dog, I caught Emma
We all sat and laughed at the dilemma.

Cory told Elisha he was going to be a movie star
She asked for his autograph before he goes too far

Chris has allergies and we were on alert
No peanut products or he might get hurt.

Emily said she was not used to rules
So Elisha came up with some learning tools.

Greg Adams showed up on Sunday and Monday
He was covered in seeds, mud and flowers in two days

He never came back, he was pooped to the hilt
Because he cleaned up all the dirt that was spilt.

Lynn volunteered just one night.
He left in a tizzy. He was in fright.

Four year olds have a mind all their own
And a sweet little voice and a gentle tone

They say ”I ‘m not hungry” but still eat the pudding.
They line up neat and then fuss over who is leading.

Elisha was my daughter, friend and helper.
I don’t know what I’d done without her.

I am sorry I am not here to celebrate their new skills
Please come next year, I sure will.
