Faith

For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand,
it is I who say to you,
Fear not, I will help you.

"Yes, child."

"I'm still mad at You,
about the other day!"

"Yes. You are, child."

"Well?"

[SILENCE.]

"LORD!"

[SILENCE.]

"You notice; I haven't written
in a few days, huh?"

[SILENCE.]

"Yeah; that's because I've
been.....well, disappointed,
that's all."

"That's all, My child?"

"Oh. Well, yeah. There's
a whole bunch of other stuff,
Lord. But, that's, like, the
most pervasive thing at the
moment."

"I see."

"Well, Lord?"

"Well, what."

"WELL? How come You didn't
help me, on Saturday? Huh?
How come?"

"To Whom are you speaking, child?"

"Uh. Well, You know, Lord.
I'm, eh, talking to You."

"Who am I, child?"

"Well, eh.......You know.
You're, uh, You know.........
You're the One Who sent all
those frogs to the Pharaoh.
Right?"

[NOD.]

"And, eh, You know;
You made those twelve moons of
Jupiter.
(Silence.)
What's it, Lord; thirteen, now?
I don't know. Everyday, they
come up with new moons, Lord.
I'm not sure."

[NOD.]

"But, Lord, what's all this
got to do with You not
helping me on Saturday?
I don't understand!
There could be 15 moons
on Jupiter!
What do I care?"

"Who am I, dear one?"

"Well, Lord! I don't know....
like, You know.......didn't You
eh......help Daniel, when he
was in the lion's den?"

[SILENCE.]

"Well, how come You helped
him, Lord? And, You didn't
help ME, the other day?
Huh?"

[SILENCE.]

"I don't understand!
I don't!
I want to know!
I want to know, right now!"

"No."

(Sulk.)
(Minutes go by.)
(More sulking.)

"Well, I still don't understand
why You didn't help.
(Silence.)
Afterall, it wasn't that big of
a thing.
You could have helped.
(More sulking.)
I mean, You could have
helped me, if You wanted to.
Right?
Well, how come You didn't?
Huh?"
(Silence.
Sulking.
Silence.)

[SILENCE.]

"Eh, forget about it.
Don't worry about it.
I don't care!
Don't worry about it.
So what, if asked You
for just a little bit of
help;
and, You didn't help me.
Who cares?"

"Read My Word, child."

"Yeah, alright.
What, this part?
Yeah. Here it is, Lord.
I found it:

For My thoughts
are not your thoughts.
Neither are your ways,
My ways,
says The Lord."
[Isaiah 55:8]

(Silence.)

"Continue reading, child."

"Yeah, okay:

For as the heavens are higher
than the earth,
so are My ways higher
than your ways.
And, My thoughts
than your thoughts.
[Isaiah 55:9]"

"Do you understand, child?"

(Pout.)
"Yeah.
I guess so.
Yeah.
Okay, Lord.
Yeah, I guess I understand.
(Silence.)
But, still.........."

"Read it again, child."

"Yeah, but....."

"And when you are done,
child,
read it, once more."

come down from Heaven,
and return not thither
but water the earth,
making it bring forth
and sprout,
giving seed to the sower,
and bread to the eater,
So shall My Word be
that goes forth
from My Mouth;
It shall not return to Me,
empty,
but It shall accomplish
that which I purpose,
and prosper in the thing
for which I sent It.
