Transition

I woke up yesterday with the word ‘transition,’ a little anxious coming back from holiday (I call it a mission), and I saw my ‘neverending drama’ – my house is under repair for over a year. O Lord Jesus! How long? Should have been my immediate cry because I had hoped that the end would have been nearer than when I left a month ago. But another set back; more mess and deis house, nothing seemed to be going right all effort failed. The house is under reconstruction by an invisible hand and that’s it. There is nothing I can do about it! The house is definitely my daughter and the builder’s nightmare, to each knock on the walls more problems occur, caused by either the builders or the age of the house.

I have been there emotionally, consumed by the house and I have learnt that God is in total control. I had to repent some time back for my indifferences towards the house and I had to trust and believe that God was at work despite the visible appearances and problems. So, when I woke up yesterday my initial anxiety had disappeared. I was studying the Book of Proberbs it had no relative links to the text I was reading, but the word Transition popped into my head, a direct link to my house repairing and God’s reconstructing our spiritual lives flashed in my mind.

The word transition means changing from one state or stage to another, or process of changes. Boy! I have had multiple changes in every area of my life, and thought this was the end. But through each transitory period God gives grace. My thought on transition is not fully developed but I believe that each of us and our church are going through our own transition; for this reason I am sharing it, saying to us all whatever we are going through God is in total control.

Reconstruction is messy, there are breaking down of walls, debris and dust flying everywhere, reconstruction uproots and displaces our personal belongings and brings stress and fatigue, it drains because of constant upheaval until ‘you may feel this is the end of my tether,’ I know, my daughter often says “I have had enough, it’s doing my head in.” Many times God is allowing us to go through stuff beyond our control we sometimes get frustrated and feel like giving up; nevertheless, God is at work through these upheavals. These processes and changes in our lives, will work in us ‘a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,’ we might not see it but the reconstruction is taking place, the Bible declares it. As the Scripture above flowed on this page I knew it is found in Corinthians and that it is all about temporary suffering of the outward man, I will qoute two verses from the amplified version from the said chapter:

2 Corinthians 4:16-17
Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day.
For our light momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!].

So there we are, going through these stuff are temporary they too will pass. God has a set time when the transitory period ends. God is not bound by time He already knows the end, to the Godhead a thousand years are as a day and a day is as a thousand years. I know that waiting sometime causes anxiety, and not knowing when it will end brings its own problems; but God is faithful and He won’t stretch us beyond our limits. Whatever process we may go through God is building our character, we are indeed maturing and we focus on ‘the ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory’ that is ahead of us.

May be, just may be what you or I are going through the Lord Jesus wants us to use it to lift up a brother or sister, there are many ways to share our testimonies and writing is one of them. I believe every believer has a story to tell, I have just share how God is using my house to speak to me about transition, what is He saying to you?

Transition is a process of changing from one state or stage to another, and God allows strong disturbance in our lives to work out His purpose in us. Share them!!
