MERCY MOMENTS



Thrice
Crows the cock
Lustily

Sun's first kiss
Has yet to grace the bitter chill
Blanking this icy dawn

Heaven's fire blazes in Your eyes
Captures mine
Reveals the heart
Exposes shame

Yet casts no blame
Only grace
Upon this treacherous clay

I run
Weeping
From Your Presence
In this mercy moment
Unable to bear forgiveness

Which would lay claim
To my heart
Where only condemnation
Should know a resting place

Such love
Beyond understanding
Mirrors none I know
Yet fills me with a hunger
Unrelenting
In its pursuit of me

Carrying You to a tree
Bearing my name
Love endures the blows
Marked mine

Spills a blameless scarlet flow
Upon my wretched clay
And calls me
Pure
Spotless
Clean

Once more
In the darkness of this night
Crows a cock
In the distant dawn

Echoing a remembrance
Born upon rivers
Ageless in time

Love's captive
My heart
Transfixed
Falls
At Your feet

Here beneath the consuming flow
Which draws my heart
To Yours
The cock’s crow now stills

At last I embrace Forgiveness
And know it mine
