Masters

One day we all choose a master,
Who will rule and dominate life;
Though we live in the land of freedom,
Be careful what your master’s like.

For the traits of all masters are different,
And some demand service beyond;
Some make such alluring promises
Of benefits varied and strong;

But when pay day comes, there’s a question ~
Then, the master is not very nice....
And if you dare to ask it...well,
He’ll give you traveling advice!

Some masters offer you money,
Some, fame and glamourous praise;
Some just the satisfying peace and joy
That come when the bottle is raised.

Some offer escape from your problems,
And, always,’ bring someone along....’
For misery always loves company,
Especially when doing wrong.

But there is One Master Who never reneges ~
Who always keeps His Word;
Who sees each sorrow and each tear,
Voicing comfort like you never heard!

There is One Master Who walks ahead
Clears out the bramble and weeds;
Tends to the cuts and bruises,
Cares about every need

.

There is One (not waiting for clean-up day)
But Who saves and keeps today...
Who knows God and His wonderful plan -
And will show you the Perfect Way!

There is never a need so trivial or great
That He can’t undertake ~
Never a sinner alone and lost
But He can a brother make!

So when it comes to choosing a Master, ~ say,
Would you look at the Lord of Love?
He’ll satisfy and raise you high ~
And give you a home above!
